Concept: The deviation has been specially created for an AbstractSilence contest with the black and red theme. "Red or Dead" is also one of my favorite cocktails and to me, it's sort of like the meaning of life - if you're not red (as in living, enjoying life, being in love, having hobbies etc) then you're dead.
Model: My muse was Oana A. which I found to be very inspiring, with a unique presence. I really like women, but only a few of them manage to inspire me, I really enjoyed the fact that unlike other models she can show her feelings in a very broad way, when she smiles, she does it with all her heart, and you don't just see a couple of lips stretching out accross her teeth, but you can also read the smile in her eyes. Further more, I've seen a lot of pretty women in my life, but out of the pretty ones, only a few are actaully beautiful.
Beauty is not something that you can measure, but I think it's something you can compare. Some women, that are just good looking, can be compared to an autumn sunset. They're pretty and not very often found, but there's still plenty of them. If I could compare what I see in her to landscape scenary, it would be something like the last light of a winter day, viewed trough the chimney-smoke covering a tiny village in a valley. Misterious, changing with the way you look at it, yet beautiful every time.
Creating it: Well, let me just say I had a hard time getting to this drawing and screwed up many times before it looked like this and even more times before I decided what concept I want to use. My tools of the trade are the imba 50 cent Barbie Beauty Children's Coloring Crayons and my 15 cent Bic no. 2 black pen. Wooohooo!
I went for the chaotic lines aspect and was quite satisfied with it, but my scanner totally fucked up my image, slaughtered my midtones and added some stupid lines to the whole image. After 1 hour trying to retouch it in PS and not going anywhere, I decided to make the most of it and adjusted the level thus adding a bit of a cyan tone to the lines and I got a combination of chaos facing order, that goes really well in my opinion with the whole concept. Well, sometimes, dumb luck helps ))
I give my clubs permission to post this in their gallery.
To be honest, it was more reading your comment that made me fav this. The way you talk about women reminds me of 'Scent of a woman' and other beautiful non-realistic visions on the same idea...
